what we'll explore

Ages 5-6: Explororama!
Back by popular demand! In this camp, be ready to be playful, hands-on, and creative!  This camp is designed to allow campers to use their favorite modalities to explore daily themes. Campers freely move between science experiments and dissections, explorations, and art projects. Each day also includes free time in the museum, story time, words of the day, and time to play outdoors. This camp is great preparation for kindergarten or first grade.

Ages 7-10: Exploratorium Insiders

Be an Exploratorium Insider! In summer camp, you’ll be connected to the central activities of the Exploratorium by visiting the Tactile Dome, meeting an Exploratorium scientist, taking a peek inside of our exhibit-building workshop, and playing with our special summer exhibitions. There will also be time for your favorite activities, like the egg drop, and to try brand new activities that the Exploratorium has just developed. There will be many activities to choose from, including project building with friends, science experiments, art projects, and group games.

Ages 11-14: Out and About

Each morning we will enjoy an hour of free time on the museum floor before The Exploratorium opens. Then out and about in the Presidio to explore the natural history, ecology, archeology of the area, including a walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. Our focus will be investigation, thoughtful discussion, and vigorous hiking to get your mind and body going. Campers will keep field journals to record their observations and experiences. Be ready for a big day, everyday!

In addition to these exciting events, there will be many activities to choose from, including project building with friends, science experiments, art projects, and group games. Every day at camp includes structured activities and free time outside.
