Membership processing takes between 5 and 10 days. If you do not have a temporary card(s), please contact Membership Services at (415) 561-0302 or e-mail us at membership@exploratorium.edu and we will send you temporary cards or make arrangements with our Admissions office if you plan to visit within a day or two.

Yes. Simply bring a printout of your receipt to admissions, and we will issue you a temporary card for you to use until you receive your Membership packet.

The benefit for Senior, Disabled, Student, and Active memberships allows one adult admission plus a guest, including special exhibitions.

No. Each Family level membership admits the two adults who are named on the card. Memberships are nontransferable. We have created the Family Plus level of membership, however, which is ideal for families with nannies and caretakers. Family Plus memberships admit three adults—the third card is a “guest of” card that can be shared with any other adult.

No, you may upgrade your membership at any time during the year. Call the Membership office at (415) 561-0302 and begin taking advantage of the perks of an upper category membership.

No, simply show your membership card at the Admissions window. We do ask, however, that you RSVP for any special events. You will receive an invitation about three weeks prior to the event with all of the necessary information on how to RSVP.

Yes, we recently have begun allowing members to attend classes with a nonmember guest. The nonmember MUST enroll with a current member.
